The former NFL star Andrew Luck who played seven seasons with the Indianapolis Colts faced a fatal injury in 2017, leading him to miss the entire 2017 season. Andrew Luck’s Wife Nicole Pechanec Was Born To Czechoslovakian Parents

Nicole is the daughter of Czechoslovakian parents, Thomas and Yvette Pechanec. Both her mom and dad are from the Czech Republic. Her dad Thomas was a sailor who represented both the Czech Republic and many other nations. On the other hand, her mother Yvette is a former gymnast and was also her coach.

Although her mom and dad are from the Czech, Pechanec was born in Newark, New Jersey, on 18th August 1990.

She also has a sister named Monica.

High School and College

Nicole went to Keystone National High School, in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. She was once also homeschooled to focus on her gymnastic career. Following high school, Pechanec enrolled at Stanford University in 2008 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Architectural Design in 2012. It was where Nicole also met her future husband Luck.

After Stanford, Luck’s wife went on to study at the Indiana University – Kelley School of Business, graduating with a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in business analytics, entrepreneurship & innovation in 2017.

Nicole Pechanec is a Pro Gymnast

Born and raised in New Jersey, Nicole made her move to the Czech Republic at 15 in order to be a part of the national gymnastics team. She represented the country during the World Games and European Championships.

Making her appearance in three World Championships as a representative of the Czech, Pechanec formed a distinctive skill on the uneven bars under her Czech surname, ‘Pechancova.’

As a college girl, Nicole was also a part of the Stanford Women’s Gymnastics team. She led the team to two NCAA finals. She also served as an Arrillaga Family Sports and Recreation Supervisor at Stanford.

Pechanec Is Now a Coordinating Producer/Field Producer at NBC Sports and ESPN

At present, the former world-class gymnast works as a Coordinating Producer/Field Producer for NBC Sports and ESPN. One of her major works at the network is to “Manage and bridge the needs of the television broadcast with the rules and procedures of a live sporting event,” and more.

She joined NBC in 2014 and has since been steadily working for the network. She was also a statistician of gymnastics in the NBC Sports Group.

She Was Previously Involved in the Designing

Prior to joining the top broadcast networks like NBC Sports, Nicole also tried her hands in the field of design. While still pursuing her degree in architectural design at Stanford, Luck’s spouse worked as a design intern at Chegg Inc. from May 2011 to Sept 2011.

She later served as a junior designer at Staprans Design, in Portola Valley, CA from May 2012 to May 2013. She there “Efficiently recommended design components by foreseeing stocking issues and understanding client concerns leading to minimized re-work, faster sourcing time, and increased client satisfaction.”

Similarly, Pechanec was a graduate architect at Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf Architects from August 2012 to Feb 2013.

Furthermore, from August 2013 to November, Nicole was a designer and project manager at the Independent Design Work.

Like her, her husband Luck also graduated with a bachelor’s degree in architectural design from Stanford.

Andrew and His Wife Nicole First Met At Stanford

The adorable lovebirds first came across when both of them were at Stanford in the late 2000s. They hit it off while still in college. At the time, both of them were involved in different sports, Andrew was a skilled soccer player, while his future wife Nicole was an avid gymnast.

After dating for several years, Luck popped the question sometime in 2017.


About two years after their engagement, Nicole and her husband Andrew got married on March 31, 2019. Their wedding ceremony was held in Prague, the Capital of the Czech Republic. Luck remarked the day as the “best day of my life, and probably the best offseason I’ve ever had.”

They wed in a private ceremony, with only their limited family members and friends in attendance.

They Are Proud Parents of One Child

Along with their blissful marriage, Luck and Pechanec are also doting parents of their child, a daughter Lucy, born on 3rd November 2019. The couple announced their pregnancy in June 2019. At the time, Lukc said of his wife’s pregnancy,

“It’s probably the most exciting/terrifying thought or idea and it certainly feels more real every day.”

Andrew’s Shoulder Injury and His Wife Nicole’s Crucial Role in Recovery

During the 2017 season, Andrew, a former football quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts faced a major shoulder injury. Due to the severity of the injury, Luck had to miss regular season games.

Following his surgery, the quarterback along with his wife Nicole spent a couple of months in Laren, Holland to rehabilitate his surgically repaired throwing shoulder with a trainer.

It wasn’t possible without his better half, Nicole’s unwavering support during his rehabilitation process. As an athlete herself, Pechanec supported him emotionally and physically, making a major impact on his quick recovery.

Luck said in his book ‘Quarterback,’

“Honestly, though, I wouldn’t have gotten through it if not for Nicole. It isn’t just that she was willing to do anything She could to help me. It’s that she’s tough. She knows what training is like, what it’s like to feel pain, and what it’s like to have to work really hard. There’s no way I get through those two months without her.”
